Betfair Asian Poker Tour in Singapore: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em
Tournaments, 2006-11-17, by Ozone
Live tournament poker made its debut in Asia this week. Singapore hosted the inaugural Betfair Asian Poker Tour event at the Meritus Mandarin Hotel. The $5,000 buy-in event drew 313 participants.
Well known UK poker pro Tony "G" Guoga dominated the event. Betfair announced that Tony will donate half of the $451,000 first-place prize to charity. Singaporean Joshua Ang made an impressive 2nd place finish on his home turf to win $223,000. Lee Nelson, a popular player from New Zealand finished 3rd.
In a nice gesture, Tony "G" gave the first place trophy to Joshua Ang so that it would stay in Singapore.
