Pennsylvania May Legalize Poker
Law, 2006-11-30, by Ozone
Pennsylvania State Representative Bill DeWeese (D., Greene) will propose a bill that could legalize poker in the state's new casinos. The state passed a law in 2004 that legalized gambling. Since the passing of that bill, fourteen slot-only casinos have begun construction. If DeWeese's new bill passes, it could turn the slot parlors into full casinos.
The bill to legalize poker will not be proposed until early 2007. At this time DeWeese is expected to become the speaker of the House. In November's elections the state's Democrats took control of the House by a slim margin.
