PartyGaming To Acquire Empire Online
Business, 2006-12-28, by TwoGun
PartyGaming and Empire Online have had a long history together. The two companies used to share the same poker network. Empire Online used to own Empire Poker, until it was acquired by PartyGaming about a year ago. That deal was worth $250 million.
Empire Online currently owns Noble Poker as well as a few online casinos. Empire's CEO and founder, Noam Lanir, is speculated to want to exit the online gambling industry altogether after the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. This deal is a way for him to accomplish this goal, as well as for PartyGaming to expand their products.
The deal is rumored to be worth around $40 million. The deal may be completed as early as the end of this week.
