WPT Season #5: Borgata Winter Open $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em

WPT, 2007-01-31, by Ozone

Las Vegas local John Hennigan has long been referred to as "Johnny World" for his tendency to bet on anything. Legend has it he once made a six-figure bet that he could live in Des Moines, Iowa for six weeks. Supposedly after just two days in the quiet city, Hennigan flew home and settled up the bet. He couldn't stand to be away from the action for so long.

Whatever he wound up losing in his infamous Iowa bet, he more than made up for at this week's Borgata Winter Open. Hennigan bested 571 of poker's toughest to win $1,606,000. Retired stock broker Charles Kelley notched $849,000 for second place. John Gale, a WPT Champion and WSOP bracelet holder tacked $443,000 onto his career winnings for 3rd place.

Die-hard participants of the WPT finally get a little time to rest. The L.A. Poker Classic kicks off February 24th.
