World Series Of Poker Expands To Europe

WSOP, 2007-02-26, by Ozone

The World Series of Poker is now more deserving of it's "world" title. Harrah's Entertainment, owners of the WSOP, announced today they will expand the WSOP brand to Europe. A series of tournaments scheduled to be held in London this September will mark the first time WSOP bracelets have been awarded outside of Las Vegas.

WSOP Europe's inaugural event will kick off on September 6th with a £2,500 (US $4,900) H.O.R.S.E. tournament. The events are scheduled to be hosted at Leicester Square casino, a new London property that does not open until April. The WSOP Europe Main Event will start on September 10th with a hefty £10,000 (US $19,000) buy-in. Three London casino properties will host the opening action of this tournament. Eventually the field will unite at Leicester Square for the conclusion.

While the action was designed for European players, WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack says, "registrants from every country are welcome."
