Wynn Classic: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em
Tournaments, 2007-03-12, by Ozone
After opening two years ago, Wynn has been considered one of the nicest casinos in Las Vegas. This week the property hosted its first $10,000 buy-in poker tournament dubbed the "Wynn Classic." The event drew 198 of poker's toughest players. Mike Matusow, Scott Fischman, Michael Mizrachi, Johnny Chan, and Chau Giang all made it to the final table and finished fifth through ninth, respectively.
Zachary Hyman, an unknown player with no prior money finish in a major poker tournament, rose to the top of the tough field and won $729,000 for first place. Second place and $384,000 went to poker journeyman Ted Lawson. It appears the Wynn Classic will become an annual event.
