US Congressman Aims To Repeal The UIGEA
Law, 2007-03-14, by TwoGun
Barney Frank has been a long time friend of online gambling. He has repeatedly opposed legislation that attempted to prohibit the industry. Frank believes the government has no right preventing people from gambling in the privacy of their own homes.
Frank is reportedly attempting to repeal the effects of the UIGEA. It is not clear what route he will take. It may be a bill that regulates online gambling or it could be one that repeals or significantly weakens the UIGEA.
Shares of Party Gaming, the company that owns Party Poker, were up 12.5% on this news.
