WPT Season #5: World Poker Challenge $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em

WPT, 2007-03-29, by Ozone

When season five of the Travel Channel show "World Poker Tour" airs later this year, viewers may start to wonder if J.C. Tran receives an automatic seat on every telecast. This week, at the World Poker Challenge in Reno, Tran made his third WPT final table in a span of only sixty days. He capped off this tournament with a victory, besting the field of 475 to win $683,000. His previous finishes included 6th out of 294 players and 2nd out of 791 players.

Tran wasn't the only player named "J.C." to turn a large profit in this event; finishing second was newcomer J.C. Alvarado who won $366,000 for his efforts. Multiple WSOP bracelet winners David Pham and Mark Seif finished third and fourth, respectively.

Season five of the WPT has just one tournament left, next week's Foxwoods Poker Classic, before concluding in Las Vegas with the $25,000 buy-in WPT Championship.
