EPT Season #3: Monte Carlo Grand Final €10,000 No-Limit Hold'em
EPT, 2007-04-03, by Ozone
Yesterday, the European Poker Tour concluded its third season with the Monte Carlo Grand Final. The €10,000 buy-in ($13,000) did not stop a record-breaking 706 players from entering this event. American player Gavin Griffin, perhaps best remembered for once being the youngest person with a WSOP bracelet, took down the EPT's record first-place prize of $2,400,000.
Canadian Marc Karam bested his fourth place finish from last year by scoring $1,400,000 for second. Søren Kongsgaard was the highest finishing European in the tournament; he will take $812,000 back to Denmark for his third place finish. Also at the final table were popular European players Andy Black and Ram Vaswani.
The EPT will take a summer off before launching its fourth season in the fall.
