WSOP, 2007-06-09, by Ozone

The $5,000 buy-in 7-card stud world championship drew 180 hopefuls to the felt. Five time bracelet winner Phil Ivey made the final table with the second highest chip count. Ivey made it to heads-up play against Chris Reslock, but was unable to overcome a large chip deficit. Reslock's win netted him his first WSOP bracelet and $253,000. Ivey won $143,000 for second place.

Also at the final table were David Oppenheim, who finished 3rd for $93,000, and Marco Traniello, who finished 8th for $19,000. Johnny Chan made a decent run at his 11th bracelet, but busted out in 18th place.

Immediately after busting out in second place, Phil Ivey took his seat in the $1,500 7-card stud tournament which had already been running for two hours. At the end of the day, Ivey sits 12th in chips with 40 players left.
