Testimony of a Poker Pro
, 2005-03-20, by TwoGun
The US state of Minnesota may soon pass a bill that would recognize poker as a game of skill. This would allow it to be played in tournaments in the state, provided the prizes do not exceed $200 and the house does not take a cut for profit.
This is certainly not a ground-breaking bill by any means. Nevertheless, it is still a piece of legislation that is gaining attention.
To help pass the bill, celebrity poker player Phil Gordon will speak at a news conference and in front of a senate committee. Presumably, Gordon will testify about how poker is a game of skill and not just chance.
Phil Gordon is a host of Celebrity Poker Showdown. He also wrote the book Poker: The Real Deal.
