2008 Aussie Millions: $10,000 (AUD) No-Limit Hold'em

Tournaments, 2008-01-21, by Ozone

Australia's biggest tournament was held last week at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. When the field of 780 was reduced to a final table of seven, Erik Seidel found himself facing unfamiliar opponents. The eight-time WSOP bracelet winner started the final table fourth in chips and managed a 2nd place finish good for $1,000,000 AUD.

After facing Seidel heads-up for nearly two hours, 21 year old Alexander Kostritsyn finished off the seasoned pro to win $1,650,000 AUD. Prior to that finish, the young Russian's largest payday in a live tournament was $6,500.

Local player Michael Chrisanthopoulos started the final table with nearly half of the chips in play, but ultimately burned out in 3rd place to win $700,000 AUD.

In March, Fox Sports will begin broadcasting this event around the world.
