WPT Season #6: World Poker Challenge $7,500 No-Limit Hold'em

WPT, 2008-03-31, by Ozone

Not many pros have enjoyed as much consistent success as Lee Markholt. At last week's World Poker Challenge in Reno, Nevada, Markholt's persistence finally paid off with a win. After 14 previous WPT cashes, he notched a victory good for $493,000.

Markholt wasn't the only recognizable name to distinguish himself from the 261 player field. Seasoned pro David Pham finished 5th for $93,000. Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi just missed another WPT TV appearance. He finished 7th. For the first time in his career, Phil Ivey cashed in a WPT event without reaching the TV final table. His 10th place finish was his 9th career WPT cash, the first in which he didn't reach the top six.

Bryan Devonshire earned $278,000 for finishing second. Chau Giang and Erik Seidel also finished in the money.

There is just one more WPT tournament in season six before the $25,000 WPT Championship in late April; next week, the Tour heads to Connecticut for the Foxwoods Poker Classic.
