WSOP Event #18: $5,000 2-7 Draw with Rebuys

WSOP, 2008-06-12, by Ozone

Love him or hate him, Mike "the Mouth" Matusow proved he's more than just a mere entertainer these days. Hours after starting at the final table with an average chip stack against some of the world's best players, Matusow was clutching his third career WSOP bracelet. By winning the $5,000 rebuy 2-7 draw event, he also picked up $537,000. Matusow's last bracelet came in 2002, well before television propelled him to celebrity status.

After waiting years to finally win his first bracelet, Erick Lindgren looked like he might only have to wait a few days for his second. He came into this final table with a commanding chip lead, but saw his dreams die in 4th place ($156,000).

Last year's only multiple-bracelet winner, Tom Schnieder, finished 5th ($104,000). Barry Greenstein's solid play fizzled out in 3rd ($225,000). Although he started heads-up play with a chip lead over Matusow, the Mouth proved too tough: Jeffrey Lisandro won $347,000 for second place.

Note: It is not too late to qualify for the World Series of Poker at Party Poker.

Party Poker does not accept real-money players from the United States.
