2009 WSOP Event #8: $2,500 No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Draw
WSOP, 2009-06-05, by Ozone
Last night, Phil Ivey won his sixth career bracelet in the $2,500 no-limit deuce-to-seven event that attracted 141 players. It is likely the $96,000 first place prize didn't excite Phil nearly as much as the millions he likely won in prop bets related to whether or not he would win a bracelet this year. There are rumors that this win was worth as much as $10 million to him. However, that seems pretty outrageous. Odds are he won quite a bit less.
Heads-up play between Ivey and John Monnette lasted over three hours. Several famous poker pros showed up at the ESPN featured table stage to watch the lengthy heads-up match that saw Monnette get bulldozed by Ivey despite starting with a 3:1 chip lead.
