2009 WSOP Update: Event #25
WSOP, 2009-06-14, by Ozone
Anyone who bet against Phil Ivey winning a WSOP bracelet this year is looking awfully foolish by now. A little over a week ago, Ivey won his sixth career bracelet and a boatload of money in proposition bets as a result. Tonight, he tacked on another WSOP victory for good measure.
The $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better tournament drew an impressive 376 players, none of whom could stop Ivey from winning his seventh career bracelet. Rumors swirled that Ivey's side bets won him as much as $10 million from his earlier bracelet of the series. It is unclear if anyone was unwise enough to double-down their bets against Ivey this time around.
At the very least, he won another $220,000 tonight from the tournament payout. Ivey joins Brock Parker as multiple bracelet winners at this year's WSOP thus far.
