Mike Sexton Elected to the Poker Hall of Fame

Celebrities, 2009-10-16, by Ozone

The only person who will be enshrined into the Poker Hall of Fame class of 2009 is none other than Party Poker spokesman Mike Sexton.

Nine finalists were up for election into the Hall of Fame. A panel of 15 living Hall of Fame members and 15 media members were each allowed to vote for up to three candidates. Any candidate who received 23 votes or more would go into the Hall of Fame; Sexton was the only candidate on this year's ballot who received a sufficient number of votes.

Those on the ballot who will have to wait another year include Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Tom McEvoy, Erik Seidel and Dan Harrington.

Sexton commented in a Party Poker press release, "I am deeply honored to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame and it is particularly special because for the first time it was a process that involved the fans, the media, and the living members of the Hall of Fame. To me, the most meaningful aspect of this process was the acceptance by the living Hall of Famers, who welcomed me into their exclusive club."

Sexton's voice as host of the World Poker Tour has helped introduce countless new players to the game where he popularized the catch-phrase, "may all your cards be live, and your pots be monsters."

Party Poker does not accept real-money players from the United States.
