EPT Season #6: Berlin €5,300 No-Limit Hold'em
EPT, 2010-03-09, by Ozone
Kevin MacPhee, who plays as 'ImaLuckSac' online, gave credence to his online screenname this week by winning the first EPT event held in Berlin. MacPhee was all-in on day three of the tournament with pocket Nines against pocket Queens and hit a Nine on the river to stay alive. Two days later, he finished of Finland's Ilari Tahkokallio to win the title. The American champion earned €1,000,000 for first place. Tahkokallio won €600,000 for his efforts.
The 945 player tournament was interrupted on day four when armed robbers raided the cashier cage. No one was hurt, but the incident delayed the tournament for three hours while officials sorted out chip stacks that were spilled by players in an effort to flee the scene.
Germany had two representatives at the final table. Marko Neumann and Nico Behling finished 7th and 8th, respectively.
The next EPT event takes place in Austria in two weeks.
