NAPT Season #1: Mohegan Sun $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em
Tournaments, 2010-04-13, by Ozone
The upstart North American Poker Tour held its second event last weekend at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. The 716-player $5,000 buy-in Main Event was won by WSOP bracelet winner Vanessa Selbst. She earned $750,000 for the win. Selbst caught the attention of the poker world by winning a $1,500 pot-limit Omaha event in the 2008 WSOP and finishing 3rd in the $10,000 buy-in heads-up World Championship three days later.
Losing to Selbst heads-up was American Mike Beasley. The second place prize of $428,000 far exceeded Beasley's previous lifetime largest cash of $39,600.
Fourth-place went to the red-hot Scott Seiver who has four six-figure cashes in live tournaments in the past five months.
Cliff 'JohnnyBax' Josephy and Jonathan 'FatalError' Aguiar finished in 7th and 8th place, respectively. Phil Ivey also made a strong run in this tournament before fizzling out in 29th place.
