EPT Season #6: Grand Final €10,000 No-Limit Hold'em

EPT, 2010-05-02, by Ozone

Nicolas Chouity's live poker tournament resume was pretty modest at the start of the sixth EPT Grand Final, but you wouldn't have known it by watching the final table. Despite just four cashes in his live poker career, none for more than $40,000, Chouity showed up to the Grand Final with 40% of the chips in play and never looked back. He personally eliminated six of his seven opponents on his way to a massive payday of €1.7 million.

The final table was void of any household faces which was unusual since many of the 848 participants in the €10,000 buy-in event were known players. Austrian Josef Klinger took second for €1 million. Lithuania's Dominykas Karmazinas recorded what was by far the largest cash in a poker tournament by anyone from his home nation with a 3rd place finish good for €700,000.

Playing at his 2nd EPT final table, Canadian Andrew Chen finished 5th for €400,000. Nick Schulman and Lex Veldhuis made deep runs but fizzled out in 18th and 31st, respectively.

The seventh season of the European Poker Tour will commence following this summer's WSOP.
