41st Annual World Series of Poker Begins

WSOP, 2010-05-28, by Ozone

The 41st annual World Series of Poker starts today with the smallest and largest buy-in events on the schedule getting underway. At noon local time in Las Vegas, the $500 buy-in Casino Employees Only event begins at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino and officially marks the start of this year's WSOP.

At 5:00 p.m., the highly-anticipated $50,000 Player's Championship will bring most of the world's best players to the felt to compete in an 8-game format. This event replaces the $50,000 HORSE event in awarding the winner with the Chip Reese Memorial trophy.

WSOP action will run daily at the Rio until July 17th when the Main Event will play down to nine finalists. These lucky nine will return to complete the 2010 WSOP in November.
