EPT Season #7: £5,000 London Main Event

EPT, 2010-10-05, by Ozone

For the first time since 2006, a Brit has won the London stop on the European Poker Tour. David Vamplew, from Scotland, held off seasoned pro John Juanda to win the £5,000 buy-in tournament that drew 848 players. Previously, the 23 year old's largest cash in a live poker tournament was $6,000. He easily eclipsed that by taking £900,000 for first.

Juanda's second-place finish netted him £540,000 which bumped him up to 5th in both the CardPlayer Magazine Player of the Year standings as well as the All-Time Live Tournament Winnings List.

Finishing 7th was American pro Thomas Marchese (£100,000) who collected some much needed POY points and now sits just closely behind Dwyte Pilgrim in second place.

The next EPT event will be held in Vienna near the end of this month.
