EPT Season #7: PCA $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em

EPT, 2011-01-17, by Ozone

One of the largest poker tournaments held annually is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) which takes place each January in the Bahamas. This year, a record 1,560 players managed to enter the $10,000 Main Event which created the largest prize pool in European Poker Tour (EPT) history.

Young American Galen Hall triumphed over the field to secure the $2.3 million first place payday. Chris Oliver, also an American and who started the final table with the chip lead, finished runner-up to Hall for $1.8 million. Romania's Anton Ionel was third for a cool $1,350,000. Even the fourth place finisher, Sam Stein, earned a seven-figure score.

Chris Moneymaker was among the leaders for much of the tournament but eventually fizzled out in 11th place for $130,000. The champion Hall had just two small cashes on his live tournament record prior to this mammoth score.

The EPT rolls back to its native continent later this month for an event in Deauville, France.
