2011 Aussie Millions: AUD $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Tournaments, 2011-01-31, by Ozone

David Gorr has been a fixture in Melbourne poker tournaments for more than a decade. His loyalty to Melbourne poker tournaments seems to have paid off. Gorr trumped a field of 721 players to win the 2011 Aussie Millions Main Event. The win came with a first place prize of AUD $2,000,000 (which is just under $2 million USD).

Gorr's Hendon Mob database is lengthy, but it's worth pointing out that all of his lifetime cashes have come on his home continent, most of them in Melbourne. With his newfound winnings, it will be interesting to see if Gorr aims to participate in tournaments held in other parts of the world.

England's James Keys was runner-up in the event earning just over $1 million. This tournament was not short of big names near the top of the leaderboard. Chris Moorman, Patrik Antonius and Sorel Mizzi finished 7th, 8th, and 9th, respectively. Aussie pro Mark Vos came in 18th. Erick Lindgren and Howard Lederer were 33rd and 34th, respectively.
