EPT Grand Final Moves to Madrid

EPT, 2011-02-22, by Ozone

The European Poker Tour's (EPT) Grand Final tournament will no longer be able to provide poker players with a great excuse to visit Monte Carlo. After six years of hosting the event, Monte Carlo has been replaced as the venue for one of Europe's biggest annual tournaments. Madrid, Spain will be the new home of the EPT Grand Final.

The Casino Gran Madrid will serve as host for this year's €10,600 buy-in event which runs from May 7th to 12th. EPT CEO John Duthie said the tour, "wanted somewhere new, dynamic, and inspiring and knew that Madrid would tick all the boxes for the traveling poker player, regardless of age or desires."

Also welcoming the change is the Mayor of Madrid, Carlos Galbeño, who said: "The fact that the Casino Gran Madrid Torrelodones has been chosen to host the Grand Final of the seventh season of the European Poker Tour is great news for the Madrid community. However, it is especially important for our town, because not only will the event have a huge economic impact, it will also allow us to project our city as a prime tourist spot in Europe."
