Selbst, Mercier Win Back-to-Back at NAPT Mohegan Sun

Tournaments, 2011-04-15, by Ozone

One of the most unlikely occurrences in tournament poker history happened this week at the NAPT Mohegan Sun stop. Both the Main Event and High Roller Bounty Shootout event were won by the same people who won them last year.

The $5,000 buy-in Main Event drew a field of 387. Vanessa Selbst repeated as champion for $450,000. Last year, Selbst trumped a field of 716 for $750,000. Dan Shak was this year's runner-up ($254,000) at a final table that consisted exclusively of Americans.

In the $10,000 High Roller Bounty Shootout event, Jason Mercier defended his title against a field of 78 players. He collected the $142,600 winner-take-all prize as well as another $104,000 in bounties. The win gives Mercier more than $5 million in tournament winnings since 2008.

The next stop on the North American Poker Tour has yet to be announced.
