WPT Season #9: $25,000 Championship

WPT, 2011-05-23, by Ozone

Eric Seidel is on one of the most memorable heaters in tournament poker history. He recently won the $100,000 buy-in High Rollers event at Bellagio for just under $1.1 million. They hefty buy-in didn't stop 29 of the game's best and wealthiest from competing. As was the case at the Aussie Millions and L.A. Poker Classic High Roller events, no one could stop Seidel. He now has over $5.5 million in tournament earnings just this year, and nearly $16 million all-time. Erick Lindgren was second in the event for $700,000.

The ninth annual $25,000 WPT Championship drew a field of 220 to Bellagio in Las Vegas. Scott Seiver came out on top for a $1.6 million payday. Seiver adds the win to his career accomplishments that include a WSOP bracelet from 2008. Farzad Bonyadi finished 2nd to add the first seven-figure payday to his impressive career winnings ($1.06 million).

Galen Hall, who won the PCA in January, finished 3rd for $589,000. Roger Teska, Tony Gargano, and Justin Young rounded out the remainder of the TV final table.
