WORLD SERIES OF POKER CIRCUIT $10K NL EVENT

In a heads-up dual between two LSU grads, Walter Chambers and Corey Bierra, Chambers walked away with the trophy and a cool $787,340. The New Orleans WSOP Circuit event, the last before the "real" series in Las Vegas, drew 259 participants. Well-known player Antonio "the Magician" Esfandiari was the Day Two chip leader and went on to finish in 3rd place, which was worth $221,445. Other notable finishes were Howard Lederer 12th ($29,525) and David Williams 15th ($24,605).
Harrahs five "circuit" events were considered a success in their first year. Combined, the five $10k main events drew 1151 participants. Nevertheless, over five times that is expected for the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas. Harrahs is hosting a 2 million dollar Tournament of Champions freeroll for the top 20 players on their leader board from these "circuit" events. Well-known players Phil Ivey, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Allen Cunningham, and Jennifer Harmen (amongst others) are expected to be invited. The Tournament of Champions freeroll is sure to provide an entertaining conclusion to the biggest World Series of Poker to date.
