2011 WSOP Europe Event #1: €2,500 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em

WSOP, 2011-10-12, by Ozone

It would be fair to say that Guillaume Humbert got his live poker playing career off to a good start. The Swiss gentleman made the short trek to Cannes, France to play his first-ever live poker tournament, the €2,500 six-handed no-limit event. He triumphed over the 360 player field to become the first-ever Swiss national to win WSOP gold. Humbert earned €216,000 for the win.

Azusa Maeda from Japan lost to Humbert heads-up and received €133,000.

Six different countries were represented at the final table. Phil Hellmuth came close to capturing his 12th WSOP bracelet, but had to settle for 7th (€24,000).

The WSOP-Europe Main Event, a €10,000+€400 buy-in, kicks off this weekend. Brit James Bord is the defending champion.
