2011 WSOP Europe Main Event: €10,400 No-Limit Hold'em

WSOP, 2011-10-23, by Ozone

To the dismay of 2010 champion James Bord who offered refunds on bets if an American won WSOP-E, American Elio Fox has won the 593 player event.

Fox won the Bellagio Cup in July for $669,000 and now has a WSOP bracelet and another $1.87 million in winnings. He beat online phenom Chris Moorman in heads up play. The Brit received just over $1 million for second place. German Moritz Kranich finished 3rd for $734,000.

Perhaps the most impressive story of WSOP-E was the success of American Shawn Buchanan. Buchanan, who finished 6th in the Main Event ($267,000), also had 3 other cashes in the brief series for a combined $303,000.

Although he had no cashes in the Cannes version of the WSOP, Ben Lamb has secured a win in the WSOP Player of the Year race. Lamb will be among the lucky 9 who resume play for the WSOP Main Event championship in Las Vegas in two weeks.
