2012 WSOP Event #24: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Split

WSOP, 2012-06-15, by Ozone

After sitting out the 2011 WSOP to protest Full Tilt having failed to repay their customers, Phil Ivey has picked up right where he left off from a 2010 WSOP in which he won two bracelets and reached the final table of the Main Event.

Ivey reached his third final table of the 2012 WSOP this week in the $5,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Split event. He once again only narrowly missed capturing his 9th career WSOP bracelet after finishing in 3rd place for $136,000. Joe Cassidy won the event after defeating Scotty Nguyen heads-up.

Last week, Ivey finished 2nd in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em event after being unable to out-duel Andy Frankenberger for the bracelet. Just two days earlier, his run in the $5,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split event ended in 7th place.

A nearly year-long hiatus from live tournaments hasn't seemed to affect Ivey's game. Just days after reappearing publicly in the poker world in January, he won the $250,000 AUD high-roller event at the Aussie Millions defeating a field of 16 of the game's top players to win the $2,058,000 top prize.
