2012 WSOP Event #35: $2,500 Mixed Hold'em

WSOP, 2012-06-20, by Ozone

There are heaters, and then there are heaters. Phil Ivey has added an unbelievable accomplishment to his elite poker resume by reaching his fifth final table at the WSOP in 12 days.

Ivey is currently 7th in chips with nine players remaining in the $2,500 Mixed Hold'em event which drew 393 entries. That's relatively unspectacular given the scope his poker career, but what is impressive is that it's the fifth time he's reached a WSOP final table in under two weeks.

Ivey's previous four final table appearances include:

June 8th: $5,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo (7th place)
June 10th: $10,000 Pot Limit Hold'em (2nd place)
June 13th: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Lo (3rd place)
June 18th: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. (5th place)

It appears Ivey is making up for lost opportunities for having sat out the duration of the 2011 WSOP due to the Full Tilt situation.

Is his five final tables in 12 days the most impressive accomplishment in WSOP history? It certainly seems worthy of consideration.
