Zynga to Enter Real-Money Fray

Online Poker, 2012-10-31, by Ozone

It's official: the U.S.-based social gaming giant Zynga will enter the real-money online gambling fray.

Zynga has partnered with bwin.party, owners and operators of Party Poker, to move into the real-money gaming market in the UK. The partnership will lead to the launch of online poker and casino services in the first half of 2013 according to company officials.

The popular Facebook gaming company whose Texas Hold'em app generated more than 30 million active accounts has been under increasing pressure to enter the online gaming world since becoming a publicly traded company last December. Zynga's share price has fallen by 77% since its initial public offering.

Investors seem non too impressed with Zynga's real-money gaming plans having become official: the stock is essentially flat since the announcement was made.

bwin.party's stock, however, did receive a nice boost of 7% on news of their agreement with Zynga.
