, 2005-06-28, by TwoGun

Due to the growth of online poker, several poker rooms are now becoming publicly traded companies. Empire Poker recently floated on June 15. Yesterday, the company that shares its poker network with Empire Poker began trading on the London Stock Exchange.

Party Gaming, which owns Party Poker, began trading at 116p. The price of the stock soared during trading and closed at 129p, representing a gain of about 11%

Party Poker's market capitalization is large enough to guarantee it a spot in the FTSE 100, which is a blue chip index of UK companies.
