2005 WSOP Event #22: $1,500 No Limit Holdem

, 2005-07-01, by TwoGun

After winning Event #15, Mark Seif said he had been waiting 10 years to win his first bracelet. Little did Mark know he would only have to wait another 6 days to capture bracelet number two.In Event #15, Mark beat a field of 450 entries to take down the win. His task in Event #22 was a little more difficult. Seif conquered a field of 2,013 entrants to win the massive first place prize of $611,145. Not a bad return on investment for $1,500.

The tournament featured a stellar final table that saw four former bracelet winners cut their way through the huge field to chase another bracelet. Finishing in 2nd place, and playing at his 3rd final table of the 2005 WSOP, Minh Nguyen earned $329,975 after losing to Seif heads up.

Last year's Main Event winner, Greg "Fossilman" Raymer cut through another large field in Event #22. Raymer came to the final table as the chip leader, but went out in 6th place to earn $119,450. The final former bracelet winner at this final table was the fan favorite David "Devil Fish" Ulliot. The "Devil Fish" finished 3rd in Event #2, which also had a field of over 2,000 players. In Event #22, Ulliot was not quite as successful, but still earned $47,225 for finishing 9th.

Other professionals "in the money" included; Toto Leonidas, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Evelyn Ng, and Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi.
