Jan Sorensen used to play poker with his teammates while enjoying a career as a professional soccer player in Denmark. Now 45, Sorensen plays poker in his free time and has made 3 career WSOP final tables. In Event #23, Sorensen was able to smoke a tough field to win his first bracelet along with the $293,275 first place prize.

Slick-haired pro Chip Jett finished 3rd to add $99,625 to his career WSOP earnings. Still in search of his first bracelet, red-hot John Phan finished 4th. The defending champion of this event, Joe Awada, came back this year with another strong performance at 5th place.

Denis Ethier, who has appeared at 2 seven-card stud final tables at this year's WSOP, nearly made his third but was knocked out in 13th place. This was the last seven-card stud (hi only) event of the 2005 WSOP.
