2005 WSOP Event #32: $5,000 Omaha Hi/Lo Split

, 2005-07-06, by Mercy

Submitted by: Ozone

For the first time ever, an Omaha Hi/Lo tournament exceeded a million dollar prize pool. The $5,000 entry did not stop 224 players from registering in the event. When it was all over, David Chiu was putting on a gold WSOP bracelet and smiling over $347,410 in cash. For the China-native Chiu, it was his 4th career WSOP bracelet.

The large number of entrants in this year's events did not stop young phenom Allen Cunningham from making his 4th final table of the year. Cunningham, who was hoping to win his 2nd bracelet of the year, went out in 7th place to win $42,110. Russ "the Muscle" Salzer finished 2nd to Chiu and won $191,610.

This was the last Omaha Hi/Lo event of the 2005 WSOP.
