In addition to hosting their typical online poker tournaments, internet-based poker rooms sometimes also host large, land-based tournaments. The first poker room to do this was Party Poker with their Party Poker Million Tournament.
Pacific Poker also has high buy-in land-based tournaments through their Pacific Poker UK Open. The second one of these tournaments will be held between October 11 through October 24. This tournament will be televized and will have a prize pool of $1.08 million. The winner of this tournament will receive $500k, so the prize pool distribution is incredibly top-heavy.
Pacific holds online qualifiers to enter this tournament. The main satellite to qualify for this event is held on Saturdays and is a $100+$10 event.
