2005-2006 WSOP Circuit Event #2: Harrah's Las Vegas $10k NL Hold'em

ESPN might be smacking themselves in the head after deciding not to record the final table of the Circuit Event at Harrah's in Las Vegas. Mostly due to the fact that no cameras were rolling, only 107 players entered the second WSOP Circuit Event of this season. When it was all over, ESPN ratings machine Chris "Jesus" Ferguson beat a tough final table to win $362,000 and a shiny gold ring.

Vegas-based professional Chad Layne lost to Ferguson heads-up but won $201,000 for a fine showing. For Ferguson, it was the second time he has won a WSOP Circuit Event. Not bad when you consider there have only been seven of the events since their creation earlier this year. His pervious win was last February in San Diego where he beat cash game phenom Prahlad Friedman heads-up for the ring. Ferguson also made the final table and finished 8th in the very first Circuit Event in Atlantic City last January.

The next WSOP Circuit Event was set to be held in Biloxi, Mississippi, but it has since been cancelled due to hurricane damage. This means players will have to wait for the late-October Series at Caesars in Indiana. The Indiana WSOP Circuit Event will mark the first major poker tournament ever held in that state.
