World Poker Tour Sues Travel Channel

, 2005-09-21, by TwoGun

The World Poker Tour is a popular show that airs on the Travel Channel. WPTE, the firm that owns the World Poker Tour, is suing the Travel Channel claiming that the Travel Channel is interfering with its plans for developing another poker show.

WPTE has developed the Professional Poker Tour. In their contract with the Travel Channel, WPTE is allowed to develop other poker shows as long as they give the Travel Channel the first right to license the program.

The Travel Channel apparently did not pick up the show, so the WPTE licensed the show to ESPN. WPTE alleges that the Travel Channel is interfering with the WPTE-ESPN deal.
