Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship $10,000 NL Hold'em
WPT EVENT

Submitted by: Ozone

At one point during their heads-up play, Dan Harrington had Minh Ly all-in and covered with A9 versus Ly's T9. Ly was fortunate enough to catch a ten on the flop. A few dozen hands later, Ly finally finished off Harrington to win the $1,060,000 first place prize.

This was the first World Poker Tour (WPT) final table for "Action Dan" Harrington. Well-known for his back to back WSOP Main Event final table appearances in 2003 and 2004, Harrington earned $620,730 for 2nd.

The "Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championship" is held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, home of Doyle's cash game endeavors. Over 400 players poured into the Bellagio with $10,000 and a dream of becoming the next WPT champ.

Not a stranger to the WPT spotlight, Gavin Smith nearly won his second WPT tournament this year, but had to settle for a $327,000 3rd place payday. Rounding out the TV final table of 6 players were Don Zewin, bracelet winner Jan Sorensen, and Tony Grand.

Other recognizable names in the money include; Barry Greenstein (10th), Chris "Jesus" Ferguson (11th), Gus Hansen (21st), and TJ Cloutier (49th).

The next stop on the WPT is the World Poker Finals held at the Foxwoods Casino in Massachusetts. The tournament begins November 12th. Tuan Le is the defending champion of this event.
