The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit made a stop in Las Vegas this week for the Ballys Las Vegas Poker Tournament. The field of 134 for the $10,000 Main Event was a who's-who in the poker world. The final table of 9 consisted of two former World Champions, Joe Hachem (2005) and Scotty Nguyen (1998).
Hachem is off to a good start in trying to prove his Main Event victory was no fluke. The reigning World Champion will add another $88,000 to his massive career winnings after finishing 5th at Ballys.
Scotty Nguyen started the final table on a short stack but was able to slip his way into 4th place, which was good for $100,000.
In an all-Vietnamese heads-up match, Kido Pham defeated J.C. Tran to win $453,000 and a gold ring, which is awarded to all Circuit Event champions. Tran was awarded $251,000 for second. Former Circuit Event winner Doug Lee finished 8th. Vegas pro Lee Watkinson was third. Red-hot Minh Ly added another final table to his growing resume with a 9th place finish.
The fifth WSOP Circuit Event of the year starts Monday, November 28th at the Showboat in Atlantic City.
