Overview
RedKings is a member of one of the internet's largest poker networks, Ongame. Their software comes in both downloadable and Java formats, thus making this an attractive site for players using a Mac or those who wish to avoid downloading software. The downloadable software is available in 17 different languages. This is the only skin on the Ongame network to offer their software in different languages.
Note that the rake structure on this site is a bit higher than most other online poker rooms. This is especially evident in heads-up cash games, where the rake is capped at $1 as opposed to the customary $.50.
Bonus
RedKings has six different first-time deposit bonuses. Three of them are released incrementally and three of them are released in a lump sum. Players can choose which of the six bonuses they wish to claim.
Three incremental bonuses:
Receive a 100% bonus up to $250 by using the bonus code HEARTS250. For every 120 points earned, $10 of this bonus will be released. Any leftover bonus money expires after 90 days.
Receive a 100% bonus up to $500 by using the bonus code DIAMONDS500. For every 500 points earned, $50 of this bonus will be released. Any leftover bonus money expires after 55 days.
Receive a 100% bonus up to $1000 by using the bonus code KINGS1000. For every 900 points earned, $100 of this bonus will be released. Any leftover bonus money expires after 40 days.
Three Fixed Bonuses:
Receive a bonus of 100% up to $1,250 when using bonus code KINGSIZE1250. Players must earn 10 player points for every $1 in bonus money for the bonus to be released. They have 30 days to do this.
Receive a bonus of 100% up to $2,000 when using bonus code KINGSIZE2000. Players must earn 9 player points for every $1 in bonus money for the bonus to be released. They have 30 days to do this.
Receive a bonus of 100% up to $2,500 when using bonus code KINGSIZE2500. Players must earn 8 player points for every $1 in bonus money for the bonus to be released. They have 21 days to do this.
Essentially, most small- to mid-stakes players will probably want to take advantage of the HEARTS250 bonus since it is tough to clear most of the other bonuses at smaller stakes.
Promotions
When you are dealt red pocket kings in a real-money cash game at this site, you win a $10 bonus. Additionally, when you take red pocket kings to a showdown and lose, you win a $50 bad-beat bonus. Both of these bonus are only available to be claimed once per player.
Tournaments
Weak competition and a wide selection of events make this site one of the best places to enjoy online tournaments. Scheduled multi-table tournaments launch constantly and offer a nice blend of different variants and buy-in levels. Most of their tournaments attract between 100 and 500 participants.
On Saturdays at 14:00 EST, small stakes players can find value in the $1+$.30 tournament. Although this has a high entry fee, $2,500 is added to the prize pool by the site.
Each Sunday this site hosts a $300+$20 tournament with a $75,000 guaranteed prize pool. Occasionally they hold a $1000+$40 tournament dubbed a "Grand" tournament that is spread over the course of two days. This is about the only place online where you can find a tournament which is spread over the course of multiple days. The sit-n-gos on this site are also quite popular.
Software
RedKings has pleasant, efficient software. The gameplay is among the fastest of any online poker room. With 17 different languages available, not many online poker rooms offer as nice of a software product as RedKings.
Table Statistics
The site displays the flop percentage, average pot size, and hands per hour for each table. This allows users to make a good estimation of how loose and aggressive a table is.
Competition Level
The competition at RedKings is pretty representative of an average online cardroom. Players tend to be fairly loose and passive. The small-stakes games are very beatable, but as you move up the ladder, the games become tougher. Many of the cash games are played short-handed (usually with 5 players).
Customer Service
Most of RedKing's customer service is conducted through e-mail. They also offer phone service, but anyone living outside of Calgary, Canada might have to pay hefty long distance charges to speak with a representative. Their Frequently Asked Questions section is very extensive and helpful.
