Poker Books (Suggested Readings)
Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big With Expert Play
This is a good book about limit hold'em for beginners.
Hold'Em Poker for Advanced Players David Sklansky
This is a very good book for limit hold'em once you've mastered the basic concepts.
Championship Pot-Limit and No-Limit Holdem by T.J. Cloutier
The only comprehensive book out there on no limit.
If you plan on playing the $10-$20 and above game, read this
Winning Low-Limit Hold'em
Lee Jones.
If you plan on terrorizing the $1-$2 and $2-$4 game, this would be an okay buy. It only tells you the basics, which you probably can learn off of this site. Otherwise, a very mediocre book.
The Psychology of Poker Alan Schoonmaker
A fun read, but nothing special.
Play Poker Like the Pros Phil Hellmuth
Tournament Poker for Advanced Players
This is a solid book for a ring game player trying to learn how to adjust to the tournament game. The book is primarily focused on limit holdem tournaments though.
Rounders DVD
Rounders VHS
This is a good poker movie. I watch it once every couple of weeks!
Positively Fifth Street
This is the true story of a reporter who was assigned to cover the World Series of Poker and ended up making the final table. Very good bedtime reading.
Omaha Holdem Poker: The Action Game
This is a short, but very good book on Omaha
