Win a Trip to the 2012 WSOP Online

Satellites to the 2012 WSOP are in full swing at a number of online poker rooms. Here's a rundown of the different ways you can win a package to poker's biggest yearly tournament. 888 Poker online poker 468x60 Package size: $15,500 Includes: $10k entry, $2k for traveling expenses, $500 spending money, 8 nights hotel accommodation, access to 888 Poker player's lounge, merchandise kit, special VIP event. Main Qualifier: $500+$25 event every other Tuesday and Sunday at 20:05 GMT. 888 Poker's WSOP Main Event package is rather large. One package is guaranteed each week in a $500+$25 event that is held every other Tuesday and Sunday. On Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 20:05 GMT, a $105+$10 event is held awarding one package to the main $525 qualifier for every five entrants. Seats into that qualifier can be won in a thrice weekly $23+$2 tournament. Rebuy events with a buy-in of $1+$0.10 are running around the clock to award $25 packages into the smaller qualifier. Verdict: The package size is pretty large making it tougher to win, but there are plenty of ways to compete for a 2012 WSOP Main Event seat at 888 Poker. Start by signing up now to get $8 for free (see here for list of countries this offer is available for). Titan Poker Package size: $13,500 Includes: $10k entry, 7 nights at Wynn, $250 for registration fees, and $1,750 for flights and spending money. Main Qualifier: $500+$25 event every Sunday and Wednesday at 20:30 GMT. The largest online poker network, iPoker, is giving away two packages to the Main Event every week. Get your hands on one by playing at their leading skin, Titan Poker. This package is a bit smaller in size giving players a better theoretical chance of winning one. The $250 in registration fees should raise eyebrows though; no other online poker room charges players a registration fee as a part of their WSOP package, so it seems like some sort of surreptitious rake. Satellites are running around the clock starting as low as $0.88+$0.08. Verdict: Thanks to iPoker's player base, they are able to guarantee two WSOP packages per week making them a top site to play satellites at. The $250 registration fee seems to be a form of hidden rake. Party Poker Package size: $14,000 Includes: $10k entry, $2k in spending money, 10 nights hotel accommodation Main Qualifier: $700+$50 every Sunday at 14:50 ET Party Poker is guaranteeing at least one of their players walks away with a 2012 WSOP Main Event package every week. One in twenty players who participate in their $700+$50 Sunday qualifier will win a $14,000 package. It's worth pointing out that the 10 nights hotel accommodation in this package is valued at $2,000. The hotel players will stay at is not listed on Party Poker's website. If it's Rio, the casino in which the WSOP is held, a rate of $200 a night seems pretty steep (it's a fairly average hotel). There are really only a few hotels in the city where a rate of $200/night for 10 nights in the middle of the summer is justifiable. If Party Poker isn't putting their players in one of these finer properties, then the hotel value in this WSOP package could be a bit of a fleecing. There are a litany of ways to win a seat into a $750 Sunday qualifier. Daily $2 and $4 speed rebuy events feed players into a $75+$5 qualifier. These $80 qualifiers are held daily at 14:50 and 19:50 ET and award one seat to the $750 Sunday main satellite for every ten players in the field. Verdict: A solid WSOP Main Event package if the hotel is top-tier. Betfair Poker Package size: $4,000 Includes: $1k entry to Event #59, 7 nights at Palazzo, $1,500 spending money, welcome party Main Qualifier: Freeroll (earn 25 Player Points to opt in to weekly freeroll) Betfair Poker, located on the OnGame Network, is giving away two $4,000 WSOP packages every Wednesday at 21:00 CET. To gain entry into these weekly freeroll tournaments, one need only to earn 25 Player Points during the previous Monday through Sunday week. It's fairly easy to earn 25 Player Points; exactly that many are awarded just for playing a $10+$1 tournament. This is a pretty cool WSOP package being offered by Betfair Poker for a couple of reasons. First, since it's not a Main Event package, they're able to give away a lot more of them. Twenty-eight will be given away in total. Second, they're basically a high-variance form of rakeback being given to players since every qualifier is a freeroll for players who earned 25 Player Points in that previous week. Verdict: Very cool promotion and a nice alternative option for players not interested in chasing pricey Main Event packages.
